Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

December 22, 2015

We took this shot of King Penguins by a Commonwealth Walkway marker when at Volunteer Point in The Falklands in November.  It was a wonderful summers day but felt appropriate for Christmas too.  Do click on the image and know that our best wishes are with you too for a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Here is a summary of our 2015 news in case you missed some of the highlights from the year:

Her Majesty The Queen unveiled a Commonwealth Walkway disc at Customs Wharf, Valletta on 28 November, during her visit to CHOGM, marking the completion of the first Commonwealth Walkway with panel, 21 discs and app.

HRH The Prince of Wales unveiled a disc in Wellington (New Zealand) on 4 November.

The Queen’s Walkway in Windsor was completed with 63 discs in time for 9 September, recognising Her Majesty becoming Britain’s longest reigning monarch.

Commonwealth Walkways have been completed on the ground in Glasgow (Scotland), The Gold Coast (Australia), Valletta (Malta), and Apia (Samoa).

Foundation discs have also been laid in Auckland (New Zealand), Rarotonga (the Cook Islands), Stanley (The Falklands), and Georgetown (Ascension Island).

Commonwealth Walkways are being progressed in Ottawa (Canada), Perth (Western Australia), St Helena and Tristan de Cunha.

The Trust is in discussion with several other towns and cities to develop further Walkways in all the nations and territories of the Commonwealth.
